Islamic Civilization Center
The Center of Islamic Civilization is one of the newest and most ambitious cultural and educational projects in Tashkent, created to preserve, study, and promote the rich Islamic heritage of Uzbekistan and Central Asia. The center reflects the country’s deep historical connection to Islamic scholarship, science, and culture, while also presenting this legacy to the modern world.
The project was initiated to showcase the contributions of great scholars, scientists, and theologians from the region, including figures such as Imam al-Bukhari, Al-Khwarizmi, and Ulugh Beg. Through exhibitions, manuscripts, and interactive displays, the center aims to highlight the role of Central Asia as one of the major intellectual centers of the Islamic world throughout history.
Architecturally, the building combines traditional Islamic design with modern construction techniques. The complex features grand domes, elegant arches, intricate ornamental patterns, and spacious exhibition halls inspired by the architectural traditions of historic Uzbek cities such as Samarkand and Bukhara.
The center is designed not only as a museum but also as a research and educational institution where scholars and visitors can explore ancient manuscripts, historical artifacts, and scientific achievements connected to Islamic civilization. It is expected to become one of the leading cultural landmarks in Uzbekistan and an important destination for international visitors.
Today, the Center of Islamic Civilization represents the country’s commitment to preserving its spiritual and cultural heritage while promoting dialogue, education, and understanding between civilizations and cultures around the world.
